In 2008 Jean-Clement Birabereye constructed a washing station alongside his farm 'Mpanga' in the northwest Burundi province of Kayanza. This washing station now processes around 1.5 tonnes of coffee per season from producers in the region with lots organised by name of the hillside on which the coffee is grown. Mpanga washing station is known for its clarity and complexity and is a testament to the methodical practices of Jean-Clement and his team. Their work has placed them in both 1st and 3rd place at the 2014 Cup of excellence.
